SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND WELFARE
1. Help to Tsunami Victims The Andhyodaya extended a helping hand to the victims by providing clothes and construction of houses funded by the CARITAS INDIA.
2. Support to Poor Students The Andhyodaya being sensitive to the social obligations in the form of promoting education among the weaker sections in our society. We provide poor students from the schools in our district with uniforms and study materials each year a good number. This is an ongoing programme of the organizations
3. Distribution of Clothes to Orphanages and Old Ages Homes In association with Lions Clubs International District 324 E4, we implemented this project in the districts of Ernakulam and Idukki. We collected about 4.5 tones of clothes and distributed the same to over 32 institutions benefiting more than 2000 individuals.
4. Continued Learning The Andhyodaya has been approved as one of the study centers of Indira Gandhi national open university, (IGNOU),. Various computer courses are being conducted under this programme. It is planned to take up courses like rain water harvesting, carbon emission reduction, solar technologies, biogas plants etc… are under consideration.
5. National Youth Day Seminar We have conducted National Youth Day Seminar.Inaugration was done by Sri. Lonappan Nambadan. There were number of Participants were actively participated in the seminar.
6. Family Saving cum Security Programme a) Gramodaya It’s a new programme of the organization. The members of the ‘gramodaya’ our grass root units, are provided with health insurance and mediclaim. It is supported by the New India Assurance Company Ltd. a subsidiary of the GIC. Govt. of India. Inorder to inculeate the value of thrift and saving the members are provided with a saving scheme. Each member earns same according to his capacity. Besides, the members can take loan as per the terms and conditions of the gramodaya scheme. This innovative programme has reached more than 2500 members and the number still growing.
b) LIC Jeevan Madhur: Micro Insurance In association with life insurance corporation, Govt. of India, the Andhyodaya is implementing LIC’c Jeevan Madur Policy in various districts of Kerala for the benefit of poor families. It is a micro insurance project i.e. it is a saving cum insurance project. Jeevan Madhur project is for the poor people to improve their savings and standard of living. Its assurance amount is Rs. 50000 to Rs. 30000 and duration is 5 year to 15 year. Anybody can be a policy owner between the ages 18 to 60. The premium can be paid weekly, monthly or yearly. Jeevan Madhur gives death coverage, accident death coverage and permanent disability coverage. It refunds the premium in the end of the duration with bonus and interest. The programme gives job opportunities to more than 30 women.
