RENEWABLE ENERGY PROGRAMS

           Conventional energy source's are getting exhausted fast. Unlimited needs and limited resources is the major problem facing by the entire world. So, the development of renewable energy is very important in this time.The Andhyodaya is a forerunner in the area of propogation and innovation of renewable energy projects through out India. We have technical expertise and efficient personnel to implement any size of both solar thermal and photovoltaic energy programmes. Installed capacity – Solar thermal = 200,000 LPD installed capacity – photovoltaic = 38,000 systems.

          The World is in an energy crisis. Renewable energy sources are the only solution.The Andhyodaya is introducing various programmes regarding to this problems, they are as follows.

1. Biogas Extension Programme

           As the name itself suggests, a biogas plant uses biowastes to garner domestic fuel. The principle behind this is anaerobic digestion. In this method, the digestion of organic matter is carried out in the absence of air in a deep tank. During the process, anaerobic bacteria convert organic solids to methane, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, ammonia etc. The degradation of the organic matter takes place in two stages. The first stage involves the acid forming bacteria, which hydrolyses the waste into shorter chain organic compounds like organic alcohols, acids and ammonia. In the second stage, methanogenic bacteria convert these intermediate products into gases. Biogas plants are based on the anaerobic technology, which serve dual purpose of reducing environmental pollution and generating energy.

          The Andhyodaya has constructed more than 230000 domestic biogas plants and  1200 institutional biogas plants. We are one of the project partners of the ANERT, Govt. of Kerala State Nodal Agency for Renewable Energy Programme. We also join hands with the Khadi Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in implementing all types of renewable energy programmes in the state of Kerala. In constructing biogas plants we mainly consider rubber latex waste water, cow dung, piggery waste and kitchen waste as the raw materials.

     Subsidies are reached to the beneficiaries from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt. of India and Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT)

          To begin with, the tank should be filled almost completely with fresh water. Then slurry from a gobar gas plant or fresh cowdung slurry is added to the extent of one percent of the total volume of the plant. The organic waste is allowed to pass through the inlet into the bottom of the digester. Since there is no oxygen in the digester, the waste mixture ferments and produces biogas. The gas gets collected in the gas storage dome and is allowed to flow out through a pipeline to the point of its use. Cowdung, kitchen waste and other organic matter could be used in the biogas plant to increase the efficiency of gas generation.

         Biogas plant – is a farmer friendly, both urban and rural friendly, renewable energy technologies. It’s a cost effective and eco friendly mechanism to avail :

          -          Cooking gas

          -          Lighting

          -          Organic manure

          -          Bio pesticide

     Organic Waste Management

         One of the major programmes of the Andhyodaya under waste management is the construction of the bio gas plants. We have already constructed thousands bio gas plants under various projects. We are into domestic waste management programme for the past 10 years. We have  Two Series of Portable Biogas Plant Products.

          We have done a series of installations during the past 10 years and all our customers are very happy about the performance of plants. We have supplied our models to very many families of our state.Our models are very cost effective and user friendly. Many Panchayats and other LSG bodies are contacting us for installation of our waste management biogas plant.We have designed a portable readymade kitchen waste biogas plant for effective biowaste management. 

2. ANDHYODAYA SOLAR ENERGY PROGRAMME

          Yet another area of activities of Renewable Energy development is solar thermal and photovoltaic. We have distributed around 65 solar water pumps, 1100 streetlights, 2500 home lighting systems in different parts of the state and parts of Tamilnadu and Karnataka.

 2.1. Andhyodaya Solar Water Heater

          We are into promotion of solar water heater programme for the past one decade. We have by now installed nearly 1,75,000 sqm collector area. This programme is implemented exclusively in market mode

2.2 . Andhyodaya Solar Air Conditioner

          Andhyodaya solar air conditioners save 60% electricity by using solar collector when compared to conventional air conditioners. It works with our wpecial medium and newest refrigerant which is completely enviornemnt friendly, such as dehumidification and bacteria free ventilation to help refresh the air inside your home or business. the system is available in 3 capacities, 1 ton, 1.5 ton and 2 ton.

2.3. Andhyodaya Wind cum Solar Photovoltaic System

         It is an innovative mechanism wherein wind energy and solar photovoltaic energy are combined for effective electricity generation.The system is available starting  from 1 Kv and above

2.4 Andhyodaya Solar Street Lighting

Solar street lighting system is an ideal lighting system for the illumination of streets, squares and cross roads located in areas that are not connected to the power grid. The LED luminaries one having high lumen and long life.Capacity of LED luminaries vary from 10 Watt to 60 Watt.

We have installed more than 3750 street lights in the country.

2.5. Andhyodaya Solar Home Lighting Systems

          Solar home lighting systems are ideal sources for providing indoor illumination in remote areas and un-electrified villages. The solar home lighting system essentially consists of the solar home lighting system essentially consists of the solar module, module mounting structure, battery, battery box, charge-controller, luminaries, inter-connecting cables and switches etc.

We have installed more than 6500 HLS in remote areas of the country.

2.6. Andhyodaya Solar Lantern

          Solar lantern is a portable lighting system with a battery, CF Lamp and electronic circuitry housed in a casing and SPV module for charging the battery.

We distributed more than 23000 nos. solar lantern to families.

2.7. Andhyodaya Solar Inverter

          Solar inverter is a solution for power failure. It is a fully automatic power generator and available in capacities of 150 VA, 500 VA and 1 KVA

2.8. Andhyodaya Solar Pump

          By using solar Pumps have a duel function while pumping the water without electricity. Solar panels of the systems can be use for generating electricity for lighting surrounding hamlets. The additions will be Battery, Inverter - Charge Control, neccessary wiring & CFLs/ LEDs.

We have installed more than 125 pumps in the state.

2.9. Solar Panels (PV Modules)

          A high impact resistant and highly transparent tempered glass plate, in front side of the module, offers adequate protection against enviornmental hazards such as rain, hail, snow, ice and storms.

          As a recognition to the efforts The Andhyodaya has bestowed in the sector of Renewable Energy Propagation, Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources (MNES)-Government of India allotted us an Aditya Solar Shop in the year 2001. The shop is located at Thalassery in Kannur District, Kerala. The shop is a blessing to the populace in Northern Kerala, where the grid power is either poor or erratic. The shop has become very popular with people from nearby districts also rushing to purchase and repair Solar devices. Aditya Solar Shop is a showroom cum service center from where the public can purchase subsidized and non-subsidized Solar devices as well as other energy saving devices. They can also get their defective or defunct appliances repaired here with utmost care.
